The Sound Barrier

The Sound Barrier (ABD'de Breaking Through the Sound Barrier ve Breaking the Sound Barrier olarak bilinir) David Lean'in yönettiği 1952 İngiliz yapımı havacılık filmidir. Uçak tasarımcıları ve test pilotlarının ses duvarını aşma girişimleri hakkında kurgusal bir hikâyedir. Bu film, David Lean'in karısı Ann Todd ile birlikte çektiği üçüncü ve son filmiydi, ancak Cineguild'in dağılmasının ardından Alexander Korda'nın London Films‘i için çektiği ilk filmiydi. The Sound Barrier'da Ralph Richardson, Ann Todd ve Nigel Patrick rol alıyor .

İngiliz gişesinde en popüler 12. filmdi ve aynı zamanda Amerika Birleşik Devletleri'nde de iyi bir başarı elde ederek rahat bir kâr elde etti.[1]

The Sound Barrier gişede başarılı olmasına rağmen Lean'in az bilinen filmlerinden biridir. In Which We Serve (1942) filminin ardından Lean'in belgesel film havası yarattığı bir film denemesidir.[2]
