Edward Wadie Said (tiếng Ả Rập: إدوارد وديع سعيد‎, chuyển tự Idwārd Wadīʿ Saʿīd, [wædiːʕ sæʕiːd]; ngày 1 tháng 11 năm 1935 – ngày 24 tháng 12 năm 2003) là giáo sư khoa văn học người Hoa Kỳ gốc Palestine tại Đại học Columbia, một người trí thức công cộng, và là một trong những người sáng lập chủ nghĩa hậu thực dân.[3] Ông sinh ra tại lãnh thổ Ủy trị Palestine nhưng lấy quốc tịch Hoa Kỳ do cha ông là một cựu quân nhân Hoa Kỳ.

Said được học về văn học kinh điển phương Tây khi còn ngồi trên ghế nhà trường của Anh và Mỹ. Ông dựa trên nền tảng giáo dục đó và vận dụng quan điểm từ hai nền văn hóa cha mẹ để cố làm sáng tỏ những lỗ hổng về hiểu biết văn hóa-chính trị giữa thế giới phương Tây và phương Đông, đặc biệt là về cuộc xung đột giữa người Palestine và Israel ở Trung Đông; những người ảnh hưởng chính tới ông là Antonio Gramsci, Frantz Fanon, Aimé Césaire, Michel Foucault và Theodor Adorno.[4]
