Fredrik Åkesson

Åkesson oikealla Arch Enemy -yhtyeen kanssa.

Fredrik Åkesson (s. 18. heinäkuuta 1972 Tukholma) on ruotsalainen kitaristi. Hän soittaa tällä hetkellämilloin? metalliyhtyeessä Opeth sekä hard rock -vaikutteisessa yhtyeessä Talisman. Åkesson tunnetaan etenkin soolokitaristina, ja hän on soitto- ja tilutustaidoiltaan arvostettu kitaristi, etenkin Ruotsissakenen mukaan?.

Åkesson soitti myös noin puolentoista vuoden ajan ruotsalaismetalliyhtye Arch Enemyssä, josta kuitenkin joutui lähtemään kitaristi Christopher Amottin palattua yhtyeeseen vuonna 2007. Åkesson oli yhtyeeseen liittyessään vuonna 2005 korvannut juuri Amottin.

Fredrik Åkessonin liittyi Opethiin vuoden 2007 toukokuussa Opethin alkuperäisen kitaristin Peter Lindgrenin jätettyä yhtyeen henkilökohtaisista syistä. Opethin keulahahmo Mikael Åkerfeldt ilmoitti Åkessonin värväämisestä lähes saman tien Lindgrenin erottua. Åkesson esiintyi ensi kertaa yhtyeen kanssa samana vuonna Suomessa, 15. heinäkuuta, Ilosaarirockissa Joensuussa.

Åkesson on soittanut soolokitaraa myös Krux-yhtyeen II-albumilla, vuodelta 2006.

Tukholmalaislähtöisellä Åkessonilla on tällä hetkellämilloin? sopimus ESP-kitaramerkin kanssa.
