Erreninaren eraginez, II angiotentsina sortzen da, aldosterona jariatzea estimulatzen duen baso-uzkurtzailea.^[4] 1930eko hamarkadaren amaieran isolatu eta Cleveland Clinicek eta Ciba AGk sintetizatu zuten.^[5]
