Alberto Undurraga Vicuña (born 17 June 1969) is a Chilean politician and economist currently serving as the president of the Christian Democratic Party.

Early life and education

Undurraga was born in Santiago on 17 June 1969. He studied at the Colegio San Ignacio and Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. He joined the Christian Democratic Party as a student in 1988, during Chile's transition to democracy.

Political career

In the early 1990s, Undurraga was president of the Student's Federation while studying at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. In 2004, he was elected mayor of Maipú, a city in the greater Santiago area, serving in that capacity until 2012.

In 2014, President Michelle Bachelet named him Minister of Public Works, a position he served in until Sebastián Piñera took office in 2018.

In 2021, he was one of eight candidates elected from the 8th electoral district of the Chamber of Deputies, the only one in the district from the PDC.

In 2022, the PDC national council elected him party president.
